About grid operator commands
A grid operator must be able to control the output of generation plants to ensure the stability and safety of the power grid. By controlling the power, the grid operator can respond to current grid conditions and maintain a reliable electricity supply. This also ensures compliance with legal requirements and technical connection standards.
Power limitations
The grid operator can limit the feed-in and import power at the grid connection point and/or the active power directly at the generation units via various interfaces. Depending on the connected systems, you can configure the following power limitations:
Feed-in power: feed-in power at the grid connection point
Import power: import power at the grid connection point
PV power: generation power of the PV system
Battery charge power: charge power of the battery
Battery discharge power: discharge power of the battery

Power limitations at different locations
Interface
You can select the following interfaces to specify the power limits:
Interface | Configuration via |
---|---|
Fixed value | User interface |
Modbus | Modbus. Modbus Power Control license is required. See Modbus Power Control data sheet: Downloads - meteocontrol GmbH and Modbus Power Control Interface |
Digital input | Digital input signal. |
Analog input | Analog input signal (e.g. 4 - 20 mA). |
Units
You can configure the power limitations as relative values (%) or absolute values (Watt).
Relative power limitations at the grid connection point (feed-in power/import power) refer to the setpoint reference configured in the Controller settings.
Relative power limitations at the plant level (PV power, battery charge/discharge power) refer to the installed power of the respective plant.
Input signals via digital and analog inputs can only be configured as relative values.
Error behavior (fallback)
If an error occurs at the interface for power limitation commands (e.g. cable break), the blue’Log holds the last received value for a user-defined waiting time. After the waiting time has elapsed, the blue’Log executes the configured error behavior. You can configure the following error behaviors:
Hold last value: Fallback value is the last value received.
Default value: Configure desired fallback value.

If the required interface is Modbus: Modbus Power Control license
Steps
Navigate to Power control > Active power > Grid operator commands.
Select the check box for the Power limitation you want to configure.
Choose the Interface for the power limitation:
Modbus or Fixed value: Select the Unit for the power limitation command.
Fixed value : Enter the value (W or %).
Configure the error behavior: Under Error behavior, select Default value or Hold last value.
If you selected Default value, set the Fallback value as a percentage.
You have now configured the grid operator command for one power limitation. If applicable, configure the other power limitations for your plant.
