About extended device monitoring
Device structure
The blue’Log can monitor complex device structures, such as in batteries, if the device supports this.
Example hierarchy for a battery
-
Battery container (aggregated values by BMS)
-
Rack device (aggregated values by BMS)
-
Module device (aggregated values by BMS)
-
Cell device (measured values)
-
-
-
Data points
In general, the monitored data points consist of an average value per measuring interval. In addition, you can also activate this feature to generate additional data points for inverters, batteries, and meters:
-
Minimum value
-
Maximum value
-
Last value
See the table under Plant > Extended device monitoring for a full list of affected values and their abbreviations.
This feature provides the most added value if you have a battery or hybrid (PV + battery) plant and you intend to analyze your data using an external analysis tool such as VCOM.
Caution
The feature consumes additional storage space on the memory card. This may reduce the number of days your data is available offline.
Activate extended device monitoring
Prerequisites
-
Firmware 37.0.7
-
User group Service
-
The device(s) you want to monitor are connected to the blue’Log.
Steps
-
Navigate to Plant > Extended device monitoring.
-
Activate the toggle Extended device monitoring.
Additional data points will now be automatically generated and can be seen under Cockpit > Realtime values. The data is now ready for further processing.
Extended device monitoring and VCOM
VCOM USERS Once this feature is activated, you can create user-defined charts and heatmaps to display your values. Additional analysis of battery data is possible with the VCOM battery monitoring module. See the topic Battery monitoring module in the VCOM Cloud documentation.
