Power plant controller
Last modified:
A power plant controller (PPC) regulates plant behavior in terms of production levels, revenue, grid compliance, grid stability, and safety. It controls networked inverters, devices, and equipment to meet setpoints and change grid parameters at the point of interconnection (POI). Operators can communicate these setpoints and parameters to the PPC either directly or via a SCADA center.
When using the blue'Log XC as a PPC, it is automatically added once the power control function is activated. If using an external third-party PPC for monitoring, it must be configured under Devices > Power plant controller.
Add a new power plant controller
Prerequisites
The device is compatible with blue'Log. See Compatibility check. If the type is not supported, contact Sales.
Your blue'Log is connected to the network and the device has been physically connected.
The basic configuration of your blue'Log has been completed. See Getting started.
All blue'Log updates have been performed. See Update.
Add-on modules, if required, are connected. See Add-on modules.
To use this function, you need an External PPC License. See License and data sheet:
Steps
Go to Devices > Power plant controller.
Using the drop-down menus, select the Manufacturer (vendor) of the device you are scanning for.
Alternatively, using the drop-down menus, select the device type (Series) of the device.
Select an interface. The interface settings will depend on the connection type. See the table below for explanations of the abbreviations.
Adjust the interface settings.
To scan for a device, select Start scan. Select the Show details window to display the scan log.
The devices found appear under Installed devices.
Interface Abbreviation | Meaning |
---|---|
BM | Base module |
MX | MX module |
MI | Multi-input |
DO | Digital output |
e.g. MX-1: RS485-2 means RS485-2 interface of the first connected MX module |

Note
Beta drivers have not been tested in the field and may not be fully functional.
Firmware below 3x.x.x: Beta drivers are grayed out and can only be activated by contacting meteocontrol support.
Note
In most cases, interface settings can be found in the manufacturer documentation or the device itself. If you do not know the bus address, activate the Use range toggle to scan the selected bus on the blue’Log. To speed up the scanning process, select the smallest possible scan range.
RS485: Refer to the manufacturer documentation for baud rates and frame settings
Ethernet: If possible, scan for either the IP address or client/slave ID, but not both.
