Power flow portlet

Description

The Power flow portlet displays the real-time power flow and direction between your system’s energy nodes, such as PV generation, grid, consumption, and batteries.

Prerequisites

  • A term for the actual energy [E_Z_EVU] is defined. See Terms.

  • If you want to display a battery power flow, either the data point battery power AC [B_P_AC] or battery power DC [B_P_DC] is available. See also Available data points and categories.

  • After adding the portlet to your view, you configured it once by selecting Start configuration, and selecting all relevant data sources for the energy nodes there. This automatically created all further terms required to display the portlet.

Portlet properties

System portlet: The portlet can be added at the SYSTEM LEVEL . Dynamic portlet: The portlet is updated when you select a different system name from the systems list.

Terms

The terms used for this portlet are by default the following:

  • For PV generation: Actual energy [E_Z_EVU].

The following terms are newly created for the portlet:

  • For Consumption: Power flow consumption [PF_P_CON]. Usually, based on the power data points delivered by a consumption meter.

  • For Grid: Power flow grid [PF_P_GRID]. Usually, based on the power data points delivered by a feed-in and/or import meter.

  • For Battery: Power flow battery [PF_P_BAT]. To calculate this term, battery power data points must be available: Either battery power AC [B_P_AC] or battery power DC [B_P_DC].

Troubleshooting

Problem

Grid flow directions are reversed.

Cause

The “reference arrow direction” on your data logger or meter has been incorrectly configured. This causes the power transformer to reverse the values for grid import and export and results in an incorrect power flow portlet.

Solution
  1. At system level , go to icon-wrench1.png System settings > icon-stats-growth.png Calculations > Terms > icon-new-tab1.png Term editor.

  2. In the table of terms, navigate to the term Power flow grid [PF_P_GRID] and select icon-pencil1.png Edit.

  3. Change the Formula: Add parenthesis and a minus -(…) around the formula.

  4. Select icon-floppy-disk1.png Save.

The values are reversed now and the grid flow direction in the power flow portlet is corrected.

Note

Alternatively, correct the configuration on your data logger or meter, or ensure the power transformer is connected properly. blue'log only If using a blue’Log, see https://help-center.meteocontrol.com/blue-log-xm-xc/?contextKey=meters&version=latest&language=en for correcting these configurations.

Note that the historical data will still be incorrect in this case.
