Note
By the end of March 2026, it will become mandatory to activate the Battery monitoring module and set up a battery subsystem if you want to monitor battery data.
For uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), see details below.
What is changing and when?
-
meteocontrol will support battery monitoring and alarm functionalities for systems with a battery only if the Battery monitoring module is activated and a battery subsystem is fully set up.
-
meteocontrol will no longer support battery monitoring for systems with a battery if the Battery monitoring module is not activated and a battery subsystem is not set up. As long as this did not happen, the battery devices will only be visible in your system, but without monitoring or alarm capabilities.
-
The changes will take effect by the end of Q1 2026, which is the end of March 2026.

Why is this happening?
meteocontrol strives to build a monitoring and analytics platform that reflects the flexibility and diversity of battery technology, system design, and market requirements. A fully set up battery subsystem is the only way to allow VCOM to differentiate between PV and battery assets. And this is required to guarantee consistent and reliable data, charts, alarms, and evaluations across different asset types and thus a future-proof professional battery monitoring.
What you must do now?
Depending on your individual system, these are the next steps you must take:
A) You already set up a battery subsystem.
There is nothing else you must do. Your battery data import, alarm, and monitoring capabilities will remain the same.
B) You have not set up a battery subsystem yet.
Activate the Battery monitoring module and add a Battery subsystem to your system to specify the battery inverters and the installed capacity of your battery. See Add a battery subsystem.
Note
-
VCOM Battery monitoring module requires a fee-based license. Trials are available on request. Please contact your meteocontrol sales agent or our sales team at sales@meteocontrol.com.
-
If your contract is newer than July 2024, you can activate the module on your own. See Activate the module Battery monitoring. If you encounter technical problems, please contact Support.
C) You only have an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
You must set up the UPS (< 30 kWh) as battery subsystem to ensure monitoring from Q2 2026 onwards. See Add a battery subsystem. This will not incur additional costs.
D) You have a hybrid inverter.
Activate the Battery monitoring module and add a Hybrid subsystem (PV + Battery) to your system to specify the battery capacity and the PV inputs. See Add a hybrid subsystem.
