System availability is the percentage of a system that is available over a period of time. It is an indicator of how quickly faults are identified and remedied.

System availability parameters

You can adjust the following parameters to your needs in the formula.

These settings affect the Availability chart in the Section: System KPIs and the Availability chart in the Section: Inverters.

System level: Monitor the energy of the entire system.

Inverter level: Tracks the power of every inverter. The individual values are then used to create an overall value.

Select whether your irradiance data comes from a Sensor or Satellite.

Excluded ticket causes


Choose intervals you want to exclude from the calculation. See Exclude tickets from KPI calculations.

Weighting by irradiance


Give more weight to intervals with higher irradiance levels. Instead of a simple time-averaged availability, the availability of each time interval is multiplied by the irradiance level during that period before averaging.

With this option, the weighted values are displayed in the charts. It is also possible to recalculate the values for historical data under Terms.

Weighting by irradiance is useful for comparing systems across different climatic conditions or identifying downtime issues that primarily affect high-production periods.

Configure a new system availability

Prerequisites
  • You are a premium partner or have purchased the KPI Editor module.

    • User group operations or higher

Steps
  1. Go to icon-wrench1.png System settings > icon-stats-growth.png Calculations > System availability.

  2. Select icon-plus2.png New availability calculation.

  3. Select icon-pencil1.png Edit next to New availability calculation and give your calculation a name.

  4. Edit the parameters to meet your requirements. See System availability parameters.

  5. Select Save.

The system availability is configured. The formula on the right side of the window will update based on the new settings.

Example: User-defined system availability configuration

This user-defined system availability example is based on the contractual requirements of a specific system.

  1. This is the main system availability formula used

  2. Calculated for the entire system.

  3. The irradiance threshold is 50 W/m2.

  4. The interval related to the ticket “Inverter” is excluded from the calculation.

  5. More weight is applied to intervals with higher irradiance levels.

Troubleshooting: KPI not available

Missing KPIs are usually caused by missing data, outages, or low irradiance. Check your data sources and alarms.

To help identify root causes, you can icon-download1.png Download a CSV file to view the raw data used for the PR calculation (daily aggregation). The same root causes will affect system availability as well.
