Ignore data sources for alarms
Last modified:
When a system uses multiple data loggers/data sources with different communication intervals, VCOM can send delayed or unnecessary alarms. This happens when a slow data source lags far behind faster ones.
You can use the Ignore data sources feature to exclude slower data sources from monitoring calculations. We recommend excluding any data source whose communication interval differs from your “default” by ≥ 1 hour.
Example
If data sources A, B, and C send data every 5 minutes, and data source D sends data once per day, we recommend excluding data source D.
When this feature is activated, VCOM will continue to log and trigger Communication loss alarms (and its Incidents) for that data source. The data is still imported.
Caution
Excluding a source may hide useful insights. Check which connected devices are affected when you apply this feature:
System configuration >
Monitoring > Ignore data sources > Device type column.
Ignore data sources for alarms
Steps
Go to
System configuration >
Monitoring > Ignore data sources. Activate the toggle Ignore data sources for the desired data sources.
The data source will be excluded from monitoring calculations.
