Power control using digital input

Last modified:

About power control and digital inputs

Digital inputs are one method of active power control. This often involves a (radio) ripple control receiver, for example. The following example illustrates the connection and configuration of a ripple control receiver using digital inputs.

A radio ripple control receiver with 4 potential-free normally open contacts (NO) should regulate the active power of the system in the following stages:

  • 100%

  • 60%

  • 30%

  • 0%

Wire a ripple control receiver to the bluelog

The 4 potential-free normally open contacts are connected to the 4 digital inputs (DI1…DI4) of the bluelog.

Configure active power control on the bluelog

Prerequisites

  • bluelog Neo with a PV, Battery, or Hybrid control license

Steps

  1. On the bluelog web interface, go to Power Control > Active Power > Grid operator commands.

  2. Select the check box next to the Power limitation you want to configure.

  3. Go to Interface and select Digital input. A window appears.

Define the interface

Configure the following under the tab Define interface:

  1. Pulse group: Specify whether the inputs are switched as pulses or permanently. You can find this information in the manufacturer's documentation for the ripple control receiver.

  2. Input (command): Specify the inputs required for control. By default, all 4 digital inputs are listed. If you need fewer than 4 inputs, remove the additional inputs via the image-20241218-150524.png Trash can

  3. Acknowledgment: Some network operators require an acknowledgment of the input signals. For this, activate the Acknowledgment toggle. By default, the acknowledgments are output at the 4 digital outputs (DO 1-4) of the bluelog. Advanced configuration options are available for this.

  4. Select OK.

The interface is configured. You can now define the limitation.

Define the limitation

Configure the following under the Define limitation tab:

  1. Set the inputs according to their assignment.

  2. Assign a corresponding limit to each input.

  3. Select OK.

The configuration of power control via digital inputs is complete.

Next steps

After configuration is completed, be sure to:

  1. Activate the Power Control toggle.

  2. Select Save.
