bluelog Neo

Controller operation

Last modified:

The bluelog can be operated in three different modes:

  • Standalone

  • Master

  • Slave

You can set the operating mode under Power control > Controller operation.

Note

A blue’Log XM/XC and a bluelog Neo can each only be used as master or slave if the blue’Log XM/XC device has firmware version 36.1 or higher.

Standalone mode

In standalone mode, only one bluelog is used for controlling your system.

Example for standalone mode
Example: standalone mode

Prerequisites

  • Your inverters are connected to a single bluelog.

Steps

  1. Go to Power control > Controller operation > Operating mode > Select Standalone.

  2. A window appears asking if you want to change operating modes. Select OK.

  3. Select Save.

Master-slave mode

In master mode, the master (Control) bluelog sends signals to one or more slave (Monitoring) bluelogs. For a master-slave mode, you must determine whether your inverters are connected to a single bluelog or multiple bluelogs. For each grid connection point, only one master can be part of the control loop. All other bluelogs must be operated in slave mode. The following graphic illustrates a typical scenario:

Example for master-slave mode
Example: master-slave mode

Prerequisites

  • Your inverters are connected to two or more bluelogs.

  • Master and slave must have the same firmware.

  • The master and slave are connected via TCP/IP (Ethernet/fiber optic).

Steps

  1. Go to Power Control > Controller operation > activate the Master toggle.

  2. A window appears asking if you want to change operating modes. Select OK.

  3. The bluelog automatically searches for bluelogs in the same network. These are displayed in the Slaves area.

  4. In the Actions column, select the Link to indicate that the bluelog is a slave. A green check mark will appear next to the bluelog name. Alternatively, you can select multiple slaves by checking the box and selecting Connect selected.

Note

If slaves are not automatically found, check that the Avahi toggle is activated under Settings > Ethernet > Hostname.

If this does not work:

  • Go to Power Control > Controller operation > Slaves.

  • Select Add device by IP. Enter the IP address and select OK.

Slave mode

In slave mode, a slave (Monitoring) bluelog receives signals from the master (Control) bluelog.

Prerequisites

  • A Monitoring bluelog connected via Ethernet to a Control bluelog.

  • Firmware: master and slave must have the same firmware.

For slave mode, the master device must first send a connection request.

The name of the master bluelog will appear under Power control > Controller operation > Assigned master. If a device is operating in slave mode, the sidebar items Active power and Reactive power will be grayed out.
