About substations

A substation is a facility for transforming voltage levels and managing the flow of electricity within the transmission and distribution network.

To carry out predictive maintenance, it must be possible to monitor substations. You can logically group devices in bluelog manually.

Add a substation

Prerequisites

  • Ensure compatibility: See Compatibility check.

    • Assembly of devices: All sub-devices are compatible with bluelog

  • Sub-device setup: Ensure that all sub-devices, such as meters, are set up on bluelog.

  • Your bluelog is connected to the network, and the device has been physically connected.

  • The basic configuration of your bluelog has been completed.

  • All bluelog updates have been performed. See Update.

  • Add-on modules, if required, are connected. See Add-on modules.

Tip

Give the device and its sub-devices related names so you can identify them easily. See also Naming guideline.

Steps

  1. Go to Devices > Substation.

  2. Under Installed devices, select the Plus.

  3. Give the substation a name.

  4. Select Save.

  5. Go to Devices > Meter or other category of sub-devices physically connected to the substation.

  6. Under Installed devices, select the Pencil next to a device.

  7. Under Connected to, select the relevant substation.

  8. Repeat for all other connected devices.

The substation is set up.

Further actions

Once the substation is set up, you can:

  • View which devices are connected to the substation in the Connected to column under Installed devices.
