Add a new user

Note

• Only admins or managers can display and use these user management functionalities. See Permissions.

• But you can not apply these user management functionalities to users with the user role admin. Contact our support if you want to apply user management functionalities to admin users.

You can add new users to your organization one by one. Every user will then receive an activation email to activate their account personally.

Prerequisites

• User role admin or user manager.

• Full name and valid email address of the new user.

Steps

1. Navigate to the Users page. To get there, you have two options:

   • Select your avatar in the tool bar, then select Users.

   • Or select All users in the footer of the Recent sign-ins widget on your dashboard.

2. Select Add new user.

3. Fill in all the fields with personal information, such as Username, Email address, First name, Last name.

4. Select a Role. See also User roles and permissions. You can only add members or managers. Contact our support if you want to add an admin.

5. Select the meteocontrol Applications to which the user should have access. You can select multiple applications.

6. ADMINS ONLY Optionally activate the toggle to Two-factor authentication (2FA) is mandatory. The user will then have to set up an authenticator application for their account during account activation.

7. Select Add new user.

What will happen?

The new user will now…

• …appear in the users list with the status PENDING. See Users page status.

Note

By default, the users list is sorted alphabetically by username. Depending on the username you just assigned, you may have to navigate to another page of the list to see the newly added user.

• …be added with the corresponding default role to the user management of the meteocontrol applications you selected in step 5.

• …receive an email with an activation link and has to follow the steps to activate their account.

Caution

The activation link will be valid for 7 days. After 7 days, the account of the user will be deleted automatically. As admin, you will be informed about this in the Notifications. If you still want to invite the user, you must add them again.
